You and your boyfriend have been together for a while and fallen into a comfortable
routine. Perhaps you've talked about marriage or even planned a date. Everything
is falling into place, or so it seems. One day you wake up feeling uneasy.
You've got this nagging suspicion that your boyfriend is being unfaithful
to you and having an affair with someone. You're not sure so how can you spot
the signs that your boyfriend is playing away from home? Here are some of
the ways in which can indicate that there is someone else in his life.
Sex
Is he making excuses for crying off intercourse or is he performing below
par. Reduced sex drive around you does not necessarily mean that he is getting
his oats elsewhere but there is a high probability that he is.
Attitude
Think of the language he uses towards you at times of high passion - ie during
intercourse or in the middle of a row. Significant changes here are indicative
of a major change of attitude towards you. If he is becoming sullen or defensive
about discussing his personal movements, then this, too, is a sign of infidelity.
It may be that he has problems he does not wish to talk about but then, again,
he may not.
Work
The old favourite when it comes to excuses about not being around. Is he suddenly
working late, doing more overtime (for which he is not being paid) or having
to go off on trips that take him away for most of the day or even for several
days at a time. If his alleged work pattern has changed significantly then
this may indicate that he is seeing someone else.
Propitiations
In the word of magic, it is called the diversion. Has he suddenly started
giving you more expensive gifts, surprises, romantic dates or the like? Men
often use this ploy to throw their partners off the scent. How can someone
who seemingly loves me so much be having an affair? Easy, they've just bought
you off with a bunch of flowers, some posh perfume or fancy dinner date, that's
all.
Ultimately the only sure-fire way of knowing if your boyfriend is having an
affair is by catching him at it, him admitting it or you cross-examining him
until he confesses. Each of the above signs is not, in itself, enough justification
for risking your relationship by putting him under interrogation but, if you
have ticked two or more of the above then you do need to confront him and
soon.
